Ben Nevis challenge for JDRF

We are joining Team JDRF for Climb 1 For Type 1: Ben Nevis on Saturday 17 August. I’ll be hiking knowing I'm helping make a difference to the lives of people living with type 1.

JDRF UK fund world-class research that one day will cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes and its complications. JDRF also support the type 1 community and campaign for broader access to life-changing treatments. Their collaborations with the best researchers in the world have led to new developments in diabetes technology and treatment.

Bags are packed ready for an epic journey! Dropping the kids in Wales for the weekend before the journey up to Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 just hope the legs aren't too sore to drive back! So nervous!! Thank you all so much for the sponsorship really amazed at the amount so so grateful for the support xxx

Ben Nevis Challenge!

Friday 2nd Aug
We are taking on a Big Ben Nevis shaped challenge together in aid of JDRF who do such important work for juvenile diabetes. 
12 hours round trip and a monster hike of 17.7km there and back, 1,353m (4,435ft) of ascent. Hopefully a view at the top and Britains highest mountain ticked off the bucket list. 
I'm nervous about this challenge, I love walking and hiking but I've never done anything this long or high and Ryan doesn't walk any further than the local pub, I'm not actually sure how I got him to agree to this! Hopefully it doesn't end in divorce! 

A bit more info - Most of you will know by now our beautiful Bella was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 9 years old on the last day of June last year. A few scary days in hospital and a lot of ups and downs (and sleepless nights) later we are learning to live with T1. 

JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) provided us with valuable resources when we were in total shock, very tired, emotional and clueless! 

They also carry out important research which we hope will one day find a cure so our daughter doesn’t have to carry on going through the daily struggles she currently faces. The technology Bella has access to is thanks to this type fundraising which aids the research and development of the devices she wears like the Constant Glucose Monitor (CGM) & her insulin pump. 

If you know our beautiful Bella you know she is the kindest, most caring, clever, sweet, sporty, funny and incredible child and I’d take this from her in a heartbeat, in the meantime it's a small way to raise awareness and money to help children and parents finding themself in the same scary position we were in last year.
