We're stronger together

Myself and my godfather are taking part in One Walk London to help raise money to fund life-changing research and make a difference to the lives of people affected by type 1 diabetes. 

As some of you may be aware my baby boy was diagnosed with T1D 6 months ago. Our little warrior deals with so much on a daily and nightly basis since then and has a lifetime of this to come with no time off. T1D is a 24/7 job to watch and manage, with endless planning and preparation to prevent or treat multiple outcomes. People with T1 are reliant on medical devices, medication and sugar to get through each 24hours and very many factors affect their condition, right through from routine, exercise, food intake, illness and more. Blood sugar is never the same day to day even if the person’s diet and routine and timings are exactly the same from one day to the next. It’s a very unpredictable condition and people who have it face endless challenges. 

Breakthrough T1D funds world-class research, supports the T1D community and campaigns for broader NHS provision of treatments and technologies. Their collaborations with the best researchers in the world have led to new developments in diabetes technology and treatment.
