Your support to my challenge has helped me provide:
474
minutes of Breakthrough T1D research bringing us closer to a cure for T1D.
237
printed copies of Breakthrough T1D's Straight to the Point guide. It covers vital information for anyone living with T1D to help manage the condition.
18
children to have an initial screening test to help to detect T1D in its earliest stages to prevent un-diagnosed complications.
400,000 people are currently living with type 1 diabetes in the UK, I want to change that.
I have registered for the Virtual Triathlon, an challenge for Breakthrough T1D (the type 1 diabetes charity). From 1 February to 29 March, I will be swimming, cycling and running towards a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D).
Breakthrough T1D funds world-class research, supports the T1D community and campaigns for broader NHS provision of treatments and technologies. Their collaborations with the best researchers in the world have led to new developments in diabetes technology and treatment.
This is where you come in. With your support and your generous donations, we can fund Breakthrough T1D’s important work. Just £5 could help towards the next big T1D breakthrough. Whatever you can donate, it is really appreciated.

Why Take Part?
Sunday 16th Mar My name is Aimee and I'm 20 years old. I've been living with type one diabetes for 11 years now. I am the only diabetic in my family, so my diagnosis came as a bit of a shock, and the transition was quite difficult for me. It took me a while growing up to realise that diabetes cannot hold me back or stop me from achieving my goals, and for a while I believed that my diabetes controlled my life. I joined Our Lives Our Voices when I was 15, which is now Together Type One (NI), a youth project for type one diabetics within the age 11-25. The youth project helped me come to terms with my condition and helped me become more confident in advocating for diabetes. Through them, I've been involved in photography projects, conferences and campaigns, to help raise awareness and fight the stigma surrounding type one diabetes. For me, doing the Virtual Triathlon Challenge is for this exact reason. I believe I can do anything I put my mind to regardless of my diabetes, because it doesn't control me - I control it. I want to prove this by completing the challenge, and I hope it can encourage other young people living with diabetes. ShareThank you to my Sponsors
