Madeline our type 1 warrior
Monday 1st JunI’m not sure many of you are aware but Madeline was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in January 2026 after a difficult battle against sepsis in ICU at Great Ormond Street. Madeline is very fortunate to have access to great medical devices and she uses a Dexcom G7 as her glucose monitor to help keep track of her blood sugars and an Omnipod 5 insulin pump which essentially acts as an artificial pancreas in a way and keeps her stable; but diabetes has its ups and downs and everyday we see a struggle in one way or another.
As a family on June 20th we are taking part in a sponsored walk in London to raise money for Breakthrough T1D. Madeline will be wearing a bright blue superhero cape to signify her status as a T1 warrior.
For those of you who don’t know, Breakthrough T1 is a crucial charity focused on all things surrounding Type 1 diabetes from ground breaking research, community support and representing the diabetic community within the medical sector. As a family we appreciate any donation made towards our goal which will hopefully help towards the vital research to find a cure.
