My Story.
Tuesday 9th JunThis year marks 10 years since I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.
To mark my 10th year, I’ll be taking on a 10K walk to raise awareness and money towards helping find a cure for this cruel disease.
10 years ago, my life changed forever in the most traumatic way imaginable. I fell into a diabetic coma and when I woke up, I had lost the ability to walk and had to learn all over again. At the same time, I was suddenly faced with learning how to live with Type 1 Diabetes a condition that never takes a day off.
Diabetes impacts every single part of daily life. It’s not just “checking sugar” it’s constant monitoring, injections, carb counting, sleepless nights, fear of highs and lows, hospital visits, exhaustion, and the mental toll of always having to think ahead. There is no break from it. Every meal, every outing, every night’s sleep comes with extra planning and worry.
The last 10 years haven’t always been easy, but I’m incredibly proud to say that 10 years later, I’m thriving. And now I want to use my journey to help support others living with diabetes, raise awareness of what this disease truly looks like, and contribute towards a future where nobody has to go through what so many people with Type 1 Diabetes face every day.
If you’d like to support me, donate, share, or simply help spread awareness, it would mean the world to me 💙
