Breakthrough T1D funds world-class research, supports the T1D community and campaigns for broader NHS provision of treatments and technologies. Their collaborations with the best researchers in the world have led to new developments in diabetes technology and treatment.

2 years ago, our world stopped for a second, then span faster than we could imagine. 

Our youngest became sick with no warning. We thought it was a bug, a virus, something she'd picked up in school. When she slept for 22 hours, we knew it was more than that. 
 
The day she was rushed into hospital still haunts us all to this day. You never want to learn what the inside of children's resus looks like! 

The nurses, doctors and countless specialists we saw over the next few days were incredible.  While we learned about Type 1 diabetes, learned how to care for our daughter, grieved all that she was going through and wondered what life was about to become, they were there every step of the way. 

2 years on and I'm constantly in awe of the resilience & bravery that Olivia has shown us all. She is a force of her own and has taken everything in her stride. 

But that doesn't mean it's easy! She fights for her life every single day, everything planned, everything packed, everything weighed, counted, calculated and controlled. She lost a piece of her innocence. 

That's why BreakthoughT1D is doing such incredible work. Not just working on a cure, but supporting individuals & families, bringing smiles and educating the world around us.
