Diabetes Sponsored Walk
Alice and Team are taking part in JDRF’s One Walk London (10km) to raise money to fund research into type 1 diabetes. The team is called Thirteam because 13 is Taylor Swift’s favourite number and who doesn’t love Taylor Swift!
Type 1 diabetes can be triggered at any point and is not linked to diet or lifestyle.
Type 1 diabetes is currently incurable. It is an autoimmune disease where the body destroys pancreas cells that make insulin. The body needs insulin to transport glucose from food we eat into cells, to use for energy. People with type 1 diabetes need to inject insulin (or use an insulin pump) when they eat carbohydrates, over their lives this is many thousands of injections.
400,000+ people are living with type 1 diabetes in the UK, and with your support we can fund JDRF UK’s important work towards finding a cure.
Thank you!
