When Chloe was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 7 years old, it changed all of our lives but hers has changed forever. 

She’s been through so much. I wish I could take away every finger prick, blood glucose check, ketone check, injection, libre change, Dexcom change, pump change, blood test, hospital appointment, high, low… but I can’t, but what we can do is fundraise!

So, as a family (Louise, Alan, Chloe & Jessica), we are taking part in One Walk London on Saturday 22nd June and walking 10km, to help raise money to fund life-changing research and make a difference to the lives of people like Chloe affected by type 1!

400,000+ people are currently living with type 1 diabetes in the UK, and with your support and your generous donations, we can fund JDRF UK’s important work towards finding a cure. Here are just a few examples of what your money can do...

Every £10 could help run a research laboratory for 10 minutes - bringing us 10 minutes closer to finding a cure for type 1 diabetes.

Every £25 could pay for an hour of research nurse support for someone involved in a clinical trial, which could ultimately lead to the next big breakthrough. Without this support, there would be no trial.

Every £50 could enable a scientist to use lasers for two hours, allowing them to study the immune cells at the heart of type 1, monitoring the success of clinical trials and further improving knowledge into type 1.

We did it!

Monday 24th Jun
Thank you to everyone who supported and sponsored us for our charity walk we did yesterday 🥰 We completed it in 3 hours 🎉 The girls did so well. Jessica needed a carry a couple of times to save her little legs 😌 Chloe needed a pit stop and some juice as she was going low but refused to go on Alan’s shoulders for a bit as she was determined to walk the whole 10km and she did, so proud 🥹 We had some visitors join us half way through to cheer us on and they continued the walk with us, thank you Debbie, Zayn, Jason , Lisa and Joseph 🤩 We’ve managed to raise an amazing £907 so far for the charity 💙

Ightham Mote

Monday 10th Jun
We went for a big walk this weekend to Ightham Mote. Our friends came with us and was there for a good few hours. Getting used to the long walk ahead. Chloe ran low most of the morning so was a good practice so we k ow what adjustments to make on the big day. Glad Alan was there to give her a shoulder carry!

Knoll Park

Friday 24th May
Lovely walk around Knoll Park last weekend. The kids did so well doing the 5km walk round the grounds. Especially in the heat! Chloe managed her BG so well with little snacks along the way. She ended up in a hypo right when we finished. Based on that walk I hope we finish the 10km event in 3 hours 🤞🏻

We have been taking the girls out for lots of walks to get used to it before the big day. Chloe’s not been feeling good but still carries on like the warrior she is 💙
