My diabetes story
Tuesday 9th Jun Hi! My names Megan and I have been type 1 diabetic for coming up 20 years. I was diagnosed just shy of my 5th birthday and it had (obviously) flipped my whole world upside down. I have lived mostly all my life being diabetic so it’s all I know and I’d love to be able to offer support to those who are newly diagnosed and one message I have for them is that it’s not the end. Yes, it’s hard. Yes, it’s messy and can be complicated but with support and all the love and help you can get it’s manageable. The amount of strength it takes to face each day is unmeasurable and all type ones are the strongest type of person you could know. I wouldn’t be where I am with my diabetes if it wasn’t for the help from my mum, my grandparents, stepmum and my husband. Every appointment my mum was there, learning all these new ways to keep me alive and my diabetes well controlled and managed. Without her, I don’t know where I would be and I’ll always hold that close to my heart.Thank you to my Sponsors
