One Walk Manchester

We're stronger together

I’m taking part in One Walk Manchester to help raise money to fund life-changing research and make a difference to the lives of people affected by type 1!

Breakthrough T1D funds world-class research, supports the T1D community and campaigns for broader NHS provision of treatments and technologies. Their collaborations with the best researchers in the world have led to new developments in diabetes technology and treatment.

This is where you come in. With your support and your generous donations, we can fund Breakthrough T1D’s important work.

Just £20 could help towards the next big T1D breakthrough.

Whatever you can donate, it is really appreciated - Thank you!

My Updates

A new milestone

Tuesday 7th Apr
Yesterday Ben came for tea - The first time he has eaten at our house (without his parents also being there).
Learning how to work out the correct dose & administer Ben's insulin correctly for one meal really makes you appreciate the extra levels of thought that have to go into every part of a day with a child with T1D.
Ben's parents have to carefully manage what & when Ben eats to ensure his body can manage. Something I just don't need to think about for Elias... as is the experience for so many other parents too.

Here's to many more milestones!

Elias & Ben

Thursday 26th Mar
Elias & Ben has been friends for a few years now, after meeting at Primary school. We have become close friends with the family, and have seen first hand how much of an impact T1D can have on every day life.
It doesn't just affect Ben, but those around him.

Before getting to know Ben & his family, I had no idea how much T1D affects all aspects of life. Even something like stress can affect blood sugar levels! We're now all very familiar with the alert sound on his tracker app - and are feeling more confident in helping when he may need it.

Seeing the amount of extra learning his parents do, to become the best advocates for Ben & his condition, is amazing.
