400,000 people currently live with type 1 diabetes in the UK and I want to play my part in changing that.

I’m joining Team Breakthrough T1D conquering the Yorkshire Three Peaks Trek on Saturday 18 April. I’ll be trekking knowing I'm helping make a difference to the lives of people living with type 1.

Breakthrough T1D fund world-class research that one day will cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes and its complications. Breakthrough T1D also support the type 1 community and campaign for broader access to life-changing treatments. Their collaborations with the best researchers in the world have led to new developments in diabetes technology and treatment.

Please can you help me smash my fundraising target of £300? With your support and your generous donations, we can fund Breakthrough T1D’s important work. Just £20 could help towards the next big breakthrough. Whatever you can donate, it is really appreciated.

Together, we can help Breakthrough T1D towards its vision of a world without type 1 diabetes.

Living With Type 1 Diabetes and Taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks 💙

Monday 2nd Feb

I have lived with Type 1 diabetes since I was 8 years old. From the moment I was diagnosed, life changed in ways I never expected. Type 1 diabetes means my body no longer produces insulin, so managing my condition is something I have to do every single day. There are no breaks, no days off, and no shortcuts.
Daily life includes checking blood sugar levels, counting carbohydrates, and taking insulin to stay healthy. Some days are harder than others, but living with Type 1 diabetes has taught me resilience, patience, and determination. It has shown me that challenges don’t define who we are — how we face them does.
Why I’m Fundraising for Breakthrough T1D
On the 18th of April, I’ll be taking on the challenge of trekking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks to raise money for Breakthrough T1D. This cause is incredibly close to my heart. Breakthrough T1D funds vital research into Type 1 diabetes, helping to improve treatments, develop better technology, and work toward a future where a cure is possible.
Research gives hope , hope for easier management, fewer complications, and better quality of life for everyone living with Type 1 diabetes.
The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge
The Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge involves climbing Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough in one trek. It’s physically demanding and will push me both mentally and physically. Along the way, I’ll be managing my blood sugar levels, carrying supplies, and adapting as needed — all while keeping moving forward.
This challenge represents more than just a walk. Every step is a reminder that Type 1 diabetes does not stop me from setting big goals or taking on tough challenges.
How You Can Support
By donating or sharing my fundraising page, you’re helping to:
* Fund essential Type 1 diabetes research
* Support people and families affected by T1D
* Raise awareness of what it’s like to live with this condition every day
Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a real difference.
Thank You
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting my fundraising for Breakthrough T1D. On the 18th of April, as I take on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, I’ll be walking with purpose, hope, and gratitude for everyone who stands with me.
Together, we can help create a better future for people living with Type 1 diabetes
