One Walk Leeds 2025

We're stronger together

We’re taking part in One Walk Leeds to help raise money to fund life-changing research and make a difference to the lives of people affected by type 1!

In 2020 Carter became unwell and was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Type 1 Diabetes is an auto immune disease, it is caused by Carter’s immune system attacking the cells within his pancreas. We caught it relatively early and although it felt like our world had been turned upside down, Carter took it all like a champ!

For many children and adults with type 1 they end up in DKA (diabetic ketosis) before being diagnosed. It’s a really scary time, especially for children!

The fundraising from this event helps towards a cure but it also helps towards funding a Rufus diabetes bear. This bear is given to children during their stay in hospital. This bear offers comfort as it did for Carter.

It’s hard to explain how awful this disease is unless you know someone close to you who has it.

Whatever you can donate, it is really appreciated - Thank you!

Your support to my challenge has helped me provide:
