I’m taking part in One Walk Falkirk to help raise money to fund life-changing research and make a difference to the lives of people affected by type 1!

Breakthrough T1D funds world-class research, supports the T1D community and campaigns for broader NHS provision of treatments and technologies. Their collaborations with the best researchers in the world have led to new developments in diabetes technology and treatment.

Walking for Myah

Friday 16th May
On Monday the 28th of April Myah had a routine hospital appointment. She had bloods taken like normal- and told we would get results within 5 days, 

2 hours later we had a phone call to say one of Myahs bloods came back unusual  and told us to go straight to A&E where Myah would have more bloods done. 

We were given the news that Myah could potentially have Type 1 diabetes. This was a complete shock to us. 
Myah had to be transferred to the Sick kids in Edinburgh where it was confirmed that Myahs life would be different from that moment forward- she was diagnosed with Type1 diabetes. 
We spent 5 days in hospital trying to get our heads around the news and also get trained up on blood glucose monitors, ketone monitors insulin pens, how to inject insulin etc.  learning how to deal with Hypos and Hypers and everything else that comes with having type 1 diabetes.

This is life changing for all of us but Myah but is doing amazing, we are all so proud of her. She is definitely made if the strong stuff 🩷

We want to do this walk to help raise awareness and funds for breakthroughT1.

Hopefully in Myahs lifetime there will be a cure for T1 but until then we can only help raise awareness.
