Joseph my son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in January 2024 and this turned our world upside down. All our lives now revolve around his condition!
Type 1 not only has physical impacts but also a massive mental burden and risk of burnout due to the huge number of decisions and constant monitoring of glucose levels and measurement of carbs that is required 24/7/365.
We are so incredibly proud of Joseph and the strength and resilience he shows everyday.
Joseph and some of friends (Caden, Charlie & Ethan) and of course his amazing sister Maisie all of whom are a massive support to him, are taking part in One Walk Leeds to help raise money to fund life-changing research and make a difference to the lives of people affected by type 1!
Breakthrough T1D funds world-class research, supports the T1D community and campaigns for broader NHS provision of treatments and technologies. Their collaborations with the best researchers in the world have led to new developments in diabetes technology and treatment.
